Name: Natasha Proctor
Town: Bridgton, Maine
Instruments: French Horn, Percussion
Natasha, who serves as our Conductor, received her Bachelor of Music Education Degree, Summa Cum Laude, in 2003 from USM where she played horn in the University Concert Band, the University Wind Ensemble, and the Southern Maine Symphony. Her principal teachers have been John Bowden, horn, and Lawrence Golan and Peter Martin, conducting. She teaches instrumental music and Gifted and Talented Math at Poland Community School.
Prior to her music studies, Natasha received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maine in Orono in 1982 and has spent many years as an engineer/designer with several local firms.
She developed her love for music early, beginning piano lessions at age 5 and horn at 13. For the last 23 years Natasha has served as organist at the South Bridgton Congregational Church. She has played with the BCB since 1972, first in the horn section and later as a self-taught percussionist, moving to the podium at the beginning of the 2000 season. During most of her tenure with the Band, she has served as librarian, a post she continues to fill.
Natasha is a member of several music societies. She serves as horn coach, librarian, and concert manager for the Southern Maine Music Academy at USM working with approximately 80 middle school students each summer.
Natash wields a mighty baton and, considering the diverse talents of our many band members, (and on occasion a lack of focus), is able to produce some wonderful music for all you folks.
