Name: Ron Hatch

Town: Bridgton, Maine

Instruments: Trumpet

Ron Hatch joined the Bridgton Community Band in 1977. He began studying music when his parents prompted him to take piano lessons when he was in the fifth grade. After that he decided on his own to learn to play the trumpet. He also sings in chorales and church choirs. Pop and marches are his favorite types of music.

A retired dentist who also has bought and sold real estate and rental properties, Ron is also one of the band’s announcers. He enjoys his announcing duties during concerts and likes keeping things lighthearted.

He enjoys singing in addition to playing the trumpet. Nonmusical hobbies include rowing and jewelry making.

His favorite parade outside of Bridgton is the Yarmouth Clam Festival parade where he remembers one particularly memorable event before the parade started when the band’s trailer suffered a flat tire and he had to administer emergency resuscitation. He enjoys hearing appreciative cheers from the crowds as the band rolls down the parade route.

Ron says he finds playing in the band challenging and enlightening but mostly fun.
